May Meeting
Okay, now that you’ve looked at the Moon and Planets, what’s next?
You have a new telescope or one that maybe is a bit older that you’ve recently taken out and pointed at the planets. The view of Jupiter was great with the cloud bands and the four moons. The crescent of Venus was clear and Mars was visible as a bright red disk. You’ve also looked at the Moon and it was a great view of the craters and mountains.
But, what’s next? What other objects are visible? Where are these “M” objects you keep hearing about?
At the FAS May meeting, we’ll do an interactive sky tour using the SciWorks planetarium. We’ll start by pointing out some of the constellations and bright stars that are visible throughout the year. Then we’ll have some of our more experienced members talk about their favorite “deep sky objects”, double stars and other non-planetary objects. And, we’ll point out where they can be found in the night sky.
So, if you’re a seasoned observer come to the meeting with a few of your favorite objects in mind and, during the meeting, tell us about the objects and how to find them. If you’re a new or novice observer come out and listen – you might find some something new and interesting to point your scope at the next time you take it out.
