April 2025 FAS Meeting (Wednesday, April 9)

Please join us for the April meeting of the Forsyth Astronomical Society at 7:30 on Wednesday, April 9. The meeting will be held at the new Kaleideum at 120 West 3rd Street downtown in Winston-Salem, NC.

This month’s FAS presentation, “Europa and the New Goldilocks” will be presented by FAS member Steve Childers.

Europa, one of the Galilean moons orbiting Jupiter, contains a vast ocean of liquid water hidden under layers of ice, and it is likely to contain the ingredients to support life.  In this presentation, we’ll explore what we know about the chances for life on moons like Europa, and the implications for finding life in these alien oceans not only in our own solar system but throughout the universe.

You don’t have to be a member to attend. If you’re curious and have an interest in astronomy and the universe, come on out! Of course, you can come just for the donuts.

The doors to the building will open at 7:00 pm. The doors will reman locked. Someone will be there to let you in.

We will meet in the 1st floor La STEAM B room. Enter through the side entrance (Members and Group entrance on the left). Go straight ahead into the meeting room.

When leaving, go out through the same side door and make sure the door is closed tightly behind you.

Please DO NOT wander throughout the building – The exhibits are NOT open.
