Please join us for the August 9, 2023 meeting of the Forsyth Astronomical Society. The meeting will be held at Kaleideum North (formerly SciWorks), 400 West Hanes Mill Road, Winston-Salem, NC.
FAS member Bruce Darling will present a talk titled: The Moon As You’ve Never Seen It. He will touch on the physical properties of the Moon, its origin and evolution, surface features, recent advances in false color mapping and crater aging, ending with some tips on observing the Moon. It will include several short (1 to 3 minutes each) videos from NASA and other scientists. The overarching theme will be that the Moon carries over 4 billion years of history on its face, history that the Earth shared but that has been erased on our planet yet preserved on the Moon.
You don’t have to be a member to attend. If you’re curious and have an interest in astronomy and the universe, come on out!
The program starts at 7:30 pm. The Society’s business meeting will take place after the program.
