Another year has passed and we here at the FAS would like to thank everyone that came out to any of our events this past year. With the weather being as it has been, we have had more cancellations this past year than any in recent memory. The public’s enthusiasm when the weather cooperated was rejuvenating and soothed the disappointment of those cancelled cloudy nights. Thank you.
The club’s online calendar has been updated to reflect our scheduled upcoming events for 2019. We have made a few changes and reduced some of our typical summer dates and have replaced them with spring, fall and winter dates. We have done this due to the late hour of sunset and typical historical weather during the summer months. Hopefully we can actually get in more hours under the stars with the changes. There are still a few dates that are being negotiated and may be added or changed so, check back often keep up with the latest information. As usual we will post entries on our site and Facebook page for each event as it gets closer to its date.
Our final events for 2018 will be our annual FAS holiday potluck Dec 12th, this is in lieu of our typical monthly meeting and there is no program for this event. We have also added a comet observation at Pilot Mountain State Park for December 29th, Comet 46P/Wirtanen will be making a close approach mid-late this month and is forecast to possibly become a naked eye object. More details will be posted the week or so before the event.
Happy Holiday’s and warm wishes from all of us at the FAS. We hope to see you all in the coming year.
