Hi FAS folks:
The annual Fiesta in downtown Winston-Salem is looking for volunteers to do some solar telescope observing this Saturday, September 14.
Location: At Fiesta this Saturday, the Forsyth Astronomical Society will be on Spruce Street and Holly Avenue. It will be so easy to come in on Spruce Street, like from Second Street (one way) then left on Spruce Street.
Parking: The reserved parking is too far so please park next to the bookmobile. A wedding that morning at the Hanes Brands Theater/Art Gallery is supposed to be over by 12:00 so I think you’ll be able to park at the lot on Spruce Street across from the Art Gallery.
A tent and an all-day supply of bottled water will be provided for you. We’ll also have a table for your materials – membership forms, club brochures, Telescope Workshop flyers, Astronomy magazines. I also will have a Hotspot on the bookmobile if anyone needs internet connection.
Fiesta is this Saturday, September 14, 12:00 – 7:00 p.m. We’ll be serenaded by a roaming Mariachi, we’ll see traditional folk dances and modern salsa, we’ll listen to various Latino genre music (no choice as we’ll be near the Main Stage).
See you this Saturday. Fiesta time! Muchas gracias.
