July 2024 FAS Meeting (Wednesday, July 10)

Please join us for the July meeting of the Forsyth Astronomical Society on Wednesday, July 10. The meeting will be held at the new Kaleideum at 120 West 3rd Street downtown in Winston-Salem, NC.

FAS member Steve Stultz will present an overview of The Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

One of the world’s best observatories is Sloan Digital Sky Survey. Its objectives include mapping the galaxy and its evolving chemistry, as well as looking back in time to see galactic evolution. Recently, its focus has been extended to the skies of the Southern Hemisphere. Please join us as we explore the inner workings of this observatory via a virtual tour and see how this scope has evolved over the last 25 years.
