*** We were hoping for the clouds to break up enough to catch the moon between but due to the terrible weather conditions this event has been canceled.***
This coming Sunday, Sept 27, we have the rare pleasure of observing a double celestial treat. We will have the full Harvest Moon, which also happens to be the largest Supermoon for the year, AND there will be a lunar eclipse, or Blood Moon, occurring at the same time. Weather permitting, the Forsyth Astronomical Society will be hosting a public observation, free for all to attend, to celebrate this rarity. We will have scopes set up in the SciWorks main parking area from 8PM until Midnight to enjoy the event. If you have your own equipment, scope or binoculars, feel free to bring them along and set up also.
Follow this post or our club’s Facebook page for a final weather call in the days before the event. Fingers crossed for better conditions than are currently forecast.
