Please join us for the October 11, 2023 meeting of the Forsyth Astronomical Society. The meeting will be held at Kaleideum North (formerly SciWorks), 400 West Hanes Mill Road, Winston-Salem, NC.
FAS Member Ken Lyons will tell us about solar observing and how to do it safely.
The program starts at 7:30 pm. The Society’s business meeting will take place after the program.
You don’t have to be a member to attend. If you’re curious and have an interest in astronomy and the universe, come on out!
During our October meeting, we will discuss some methods to observe the sun safely, what to observe about the sun, and when is the best time to observe. There will be solar eclipses observable from the Winston-Salem area in October 2023 and April 2024, and there will be a brief overview about them during our meeting. Everyone attending will get a free solar viewer to observe these eclipse events!
Click on the buttons to the right for more information about eclipses, the upcoming solar eclipses, and eclipse safety. DO NOT look at the Sun without proper solar glasses or solar filters.
