Wednesday October 9th, 7:30 pm, at Kaleideum North the Forsyth Astronomical Society will have its regularly scheduled monthly meeting. The presentation topic this month is given by club member Bruce Gavett and is entitled:
Follow the Road to the Moon – Part II (Gemini)
After the initial steps into space, and before the Apollo program would take us to the Moon, the United States had to learn how to fly to the Moon (and back). Project Gemini was a short but important step in our quest to land humans on Moon. For the first time, two astronauts would travel into space together. The Gemini flights were longer as NASA learned how to walk in space, rendezvous and dock spacecraft in orbit, and preform the maneuvers necessary for a spacecraft to reach the Moon, land, and return safely to Earth.
Following the presentation portion, we will have a brief business/planning meeting and as always, there will be an informal social gathering 30 minutes or so before the meeting. Come early for the best choice of doughnuts. All meetings are open to the public, free of charge and all are welcome. Hope to see you there.
