Public Observation at Forsyth County Central Library (Thursday, December 5)

WEATHER UPDATE: Clear skies for Thursday night; this event will take place as scheduled.

The Forsyth Astronomical Society (FAS) is going back to the LIBRARY!

FAS will hold a public observation at the Forsyth County Central Library on Thursday, December 5. The event runs from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the front lawn of the library at 660 W Fifth St., Winston-Salem. Click here for directions and here for more information.

Pre-registration is NOT required, nor do you need your library card. Everyone is welcome! Oh yes, the library will be OPEN.

If conditions are favorable, we will be able to see the Moon, the planet Saturn and maybe other interesting celestial objects.

This event is dependent on the WEATHER. Clouds and rain do make it difficult to observe the night sky, so the FAS website (this post) along with the FAS Facebook page will be updated with the weather decision the evening before the event.

To learn more about telescopes, astronomy, and observing the night sky, see our FAS Astronomy Resources. This page also lists a few Astronomy Apps you might download to your smart phone or tablet for this event.
