WEATHER UPDATE: Due to forecasted cloud cover, this event is canceled.
On Friday, November 22, the Forsyth Astronomical Society and the rangers of Pilot Mountain State Park will host a free public astronomy observation at Pilot Mountain State Park. The event will begin at 6:30 PM and conclude at 9:30 PM.
This event is weather-dependent, and a weather update will be posted on our website (fas37.org) and on our Facebook page with the weather decision made the evening before the event.
This event is free and open to the public. The observing site is in the summit parking lot. Parking at the summit is limited, so carpooling is recommended. As a courtesy to those present, if you arrive after dark, please turn off your headlights and drive slowly with just your parking lights when you reach the summit parking lot. Dress warmly, because the summit of Pilot Mountain can be much colder and windier than the surrounding area.
