Public Solar Observations This Summer

During the summer scheduling observations of the night sky is somewhat problematic because of the long days and short nights. It just gets dark too late.

But fear not! During the day the Sun is out and we at the Forsyth Astronomical Society will bring out our telescopes (with the appropriate solar filters) for some public solar observing.

We have three such events scheduled. Of course, check with us for a weather update a day or two before each event.

  • Pilot Mountain State Park, at the visitor center. Saturday May 25 – 10:00 AM to Noon.
  • Kaleideum, in the grassy area east of the main entrance. Saturday June 22 – 10:00 AM to Noon.
  • Forsyth County Central Library, on the front lawn. Saturday August 17 – 10:00 AM to Noon.

Don’t worry, we’ll be back with our usual evening observations for the public this fall.
