Longtime FAS member Jeff Thompson passed away on September 12. He was active in our club from the 1990s, and was instrumental in obtaining funding and infrastructure to place viewing equipment for NASA TV, along with other astronomy education materials, in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County schools. Jeff was born and raised in Texas and was a reporter based at what is now Johnson Space Center, where he covered missions from Mercury through Apollo, and met many of NASA’s early leaders and astronauts. Our condolences go out to his family.
