Solar Observations for the Statewide Star Party (Friday April 4 and Saturday April 5)

Forsyth Astronomical Society will hold three free public solar observations on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5. These events are part of the North Carolina Science Festival’s Statewide Star Party. Solar telescopes will be available to safely view the Sun and solar activity such as sunspots and solar flares.

The first event is a solar and daytime moon observation on Friday, April 4 from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Surry Community College Library, 201 College Circle, Dobson, NC 27017. We will be on the tennis court beside the library (R Building). Parking is available in nearby parking lots and in marked spaces along College Circle. When parking, do not block roadways, crosswalks, or sidewalks.

  • At the end of the ramp, turn left onto US 601 south toward Dobson
